Ultrasound Smart Procedure

Years ago, interventional procedures were carried out under CT guidance, and some procedures were performed blindly via the landmark method by pain management doctors. Today, joint injections and invasive procedures aren’t carried out blindly. Possible complications such as pneumothorax, as well as intravascular injections can be averted by using the Ultrasound Smart Procedure.

During a fluoroscopy procedure, an X-ray beam is passed through the body. The image is transmitted to a monitor, so the movement of a body part or of an instrument or contrast agent through the body can be seen in detail.

Fluoroscopy helps to get an accurate, precise placement of needles, and it also allows for venturing into treatment areas, especially around the spinal canal.

Fluoroscopy Procedure ensures a more precise localization of both the lumbar and stellate paravertebral sympathetic blocks, celiac and superior hypogastric plexus blocks, visceral sympathetic blocks, and neurolysis of the impar ganglion.

Electromyography (EMG)

Electromyography measures electrical activity or muscle response in reaction to a nerve’s muscle stimulation. This Smart Procedure is used in detecting neuromuscular abnormalities. During the procedure, one or more electrodes (needles) are inserted into the muscle through the skin. The electrical reaction sensed by the needles is then shown on an oscilloscope. Also, an audio amplifier is utilized so the electrical activity can be heard.

This Smart Medical Procedure can be used to detect muscle damage, and not only that, it helps detect the precise location, presence and extent of diseases that caused muscle damage.
